Hydrostatic Valve for Swimming Pools

A hydrostatic valve helps protect a swimming pool against pressure caused by underground water. It is installed in the bottom suction or main drain fitting on the pool floor.

When groundwater pressure beneath the swimming pool becomes higher than the pressure inside the pool, the valve can open automatically. This allows underground water to enter the pool and helps reduce the risk of the pool shell lifting, cracking or becoming damaged.

Installation Recommendation

Fill the area beneath and around the bottom drain with clean 13 mm gravel stone to a depth of approximately 20 cm. The gravel creates a drainage area that helps prevent fine sand, soil and debris from reaching or blocking the hydrostatic valve.
