Restore the grip and movement of your pool cleaner with a replacement track (tyre) for the Zodiac MX8 Pool Cleaner.
The tracks are normal wearing parts that gradually stretch and lose traction as the cleaner operates. Worn tracks can cause the MX8 to move slowly, struggle to change direction or fail to climb the pool walls properly.
Replacing worn tracks can improve the cleaner’s traction and help restore reliable movement across the pool floor and walls.

Signs That the MX8 Track Needs Replacing
Inspect or replace the track when:
- The cleaner moves slowly or stops moving.
- The track regularly slips off the wheels.
- The cleaner struggles to climb the pool walls.
- The tread appears smooth, stretched or damaged.
- The track feels loose around the drive wheels.
- One side of the cleaner moves differently from the other.
- The cleaner repeatedly turns in one direction.
- Tracks should fit securely around the drive wheels without excessive slack.
Should Both Tracks Be Replaced?
The Zodiac MX8 uses a track on each side. If both tracks have been in use for the same period, it is generally recommended that they be inspected and replaced together.
Replacing both tracks at the same time helps maintain balanced traction and consistent movement. If only one track is replaced, the difference in grip between the new and worn track may affect the cleaner’s navigation.
Important: Confirm the quantity included in this product option before ordering. If the tracks are sold individually, order two to replace both sides.
How to Replace the Track
- Switch off the pool pump.
- Remove the MX8 cleaner from the swimming pool.
- Place the cleaner on a stable surface.
- Carefully remove the worn track from the drive wheels.
- Position the replacement track around the wheels.
- Make sure the track sits correctly inside the wheel grooves.
- Rotate the wheels manually to confirm smooth movement.
- Reconnect the cleaner and test its operation in the pool.
No specialist tools are normally required for basic track replacement.
Important Checks
A new track will not repair every movement problem. If the MX8 still does not move correctly after replacing the tracks, inspect:
- Pool pump suction
- Blocked hoses or turbine
- Worn drive gears
- Damaged drive shafts
- Gearbox operation
- Internal bearings
- Incorrectly fitted tracks
Both sides of the cleaner should rotate freely and provide similar resistance.
